Gameplay

At its heart is this story. As an ambitious trainer from Pallet Town, your quest will take you across America as you seek eight Gym Badges while foiling Team Rocket's criminal activities and become Pokemon League Champion! But this Kanto may be different than you remember it to be: in The Last Fire Red, every trainer and Gym Leader are more intelligent, each battle will test your team harder, and progression goes far beyond simply levelling up; rather it involves outwitting opponents, building versatile squads, and earning victories as part of reaching Indigo Plateau.

How to Play

At its heart lies one key point about The Last Fire Red: brute force will not do. While in previous games you could often win by fielding only extremely powerful Pokemon, that approach won't cut it here; for success to come through strategic play is needed! As Gym Leaders don't just collect rock-type Pokemon; their teams have full, competitive teams designed to cover any weaknesses like any human player would. Although you might start the game out similarly to when it began, as soon as your opponents come along you will notice their challenge level escalate significantly more rapidly than expected! Although your journey begins as easily enough with its familiar opening sequences - just watch how fast it escalates. Controls are classic yet straightforward:

Press 'X' to act as the Cancel/Back Button (B).
